Product Development Engineer | Open Position
Wolf Steel Ltd would like to announce the exciting new opportunity of Product Development Engineer – Air Conditioning.
Position Purpose
As the Product Development Engineer – Air Conditioning, the incumbent shall be innovative, develop, implement and maintain products produced by Wolf Steel Ltd. It is expected that the incumbent be a hands on interactive leader for the Air Conditioning product line. The key functions of this role are to design and develop the future products for the company to achieve pre-determined goals and expectations while communicating to our Guangzhou, China facility. As the Product Development Engineer – Air Conditioning, it will involve being liable for the product and its achievements as a whole.
Key Responsibilities
- Daily review of product developments and improvements
- Serving as the product expert
- Possessing the ability to effectively articulate equipment features, function and design
- Developing and maintaining engineering and inspection acceptance criteria
- Conducting product development and improvement processes
- Developing product concept including associate accessories
- Providing recommendations for technical solutions while performing studies
- Designing system improvements thus reducing operating cost and negative impacts on the environment
- Adhering to and participating with improvement plans for safety, quality and production related items and assist with process related projects as required
- Leading / facilitating discussions within team and cross functional groups
Qualifications and Requirements
Education
- Mechanical, Chemical or Engineering Degree (Thermodynamics major)
- Professional Designation preferred (P Eng, C.E.T.)
- G2 Gas fitter license or C of Q Refrigeration preferred
- Technologist Diploma or equivalent
Experience
- Manufacturing industry or Engineering environment preferred
- Code practices an asset
- Project Management
Knowledge
- Strong technical knowledge (Air Conditioning)
- Bilingual – English and Mandarin
- Understanding of market functions, needs and concepts
- Computer literate in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
- Proficient in Solidworks/ AutoCad –and computer networks
- Knowledge with load calculations, energy modeling and designing mechanical systems
- Understanding of equipment such as chillers and air handlers is considered an asset
- Knowledge of mechanical, electrical and control systems
Skills
- An excellent communicator, clarifying and announcing design concepts and achievements
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
- Collaborative team player
- Skilled in manufacturing and assembly processes
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to function in a fast paced multi-functional environment where priorities change regularly
