You want your fireplace to be the focal point of your room; you want it to be the first thing people will see or talk about when they enter your warm home. Thus, here are some ideas to help you with your decoration.

Winter

When Christmas is coming, you know it’s time to make your fireplace ready for holiday parties by adding a few decorations of Santa Claus and his cute reindeers. Without a doubt this is going to work for November and December but what about January and February? Christmas is over but it doesn’t mean you have to remove your decorations, and in fact, you still have many more opportunities opened for you. Create a display with the classic winter colors like white, silver, light blue and light purple then add a few candles, snowflakes or bird statues that can be found in winter; for example the Blue Jay.

Spring

This season can be tricky but as long as you have a good idea of what nature or freshness is you are good to go. All you need to do is to picture an old house in a big field of flowers and pick what you like to most of it. If you don’t like the old house idea, as long as you stay with the green color for your accessories you will be just fine. Another decoration that would fit for spring would be an old book on the side of your mantel.

Summer

One of the most popular ways to decorate your fireplace with is to evoke the beach by adding items that reminds the sea and the sun. Get a jar filled with seashells you gathered from your trips or bought at the store and on the other side you can put beach prints in frames. Another good idea would be to transform your mantel into a boat by adding a selection of items that can be found on a ship.

The most important thing about this season is the pallet of color that is offered to you. Think about a long road where you have all those colourful trees on the side and as you go you see the orange, red and yellow leaves coming down; that’s what you want your fireplace mantel to look like. You can also add a few pumpkins for Halloween and make your fireplace a bit scarier with candles and a scarecrow.
